Q-Med Esthetics has a long record of success with many satisfied users. More than 700,000 treatments have been carried out in more than 60 countries around the world. Our products are made under stringent control. They come to you from a nation known for health, nature and beauty. Each Q-Med Esthetics product is based on the same hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is one of very few substances that is identical in all species and tissue types. Thus, it can be used in many medical applications. With Q-Med Esthetics products it restores youthful resilience to your skin by simply adding to your natural supply.

Q-Med hyaluronic acid is unique. We are the only company to offer NASHA, or Non-Animal, Stabilized, Hyaluronic Acid. NASHA is the first stable, bio-degradable, non-animal hyaluronic acid available and is produced under carefully controlled conditions in our patented process. The result is three choices of gels, which can be used individually or in combination.

After injection, the gel binds water and generally remains for many months. Non-stabilized hyaluronic acid products, by comparison, last only a few days or several weeks at most. As a totally non-animal product, there is no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting allergic reaction in patients who are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs.

Microdermabrasion is a safe and effective alternative to the use of chemical acids, the results are more predictable and can be accomplished in gradual stages with no down time or redness. In most cases you will see an immediate result with a quicker recovery.

How does this compare to other chemical peels?

What areas of the skin are mostly treated by Microdermabrasion?

  • Face & neck
  • Elbows and knees
  • Hands & feet
  • Shoulders
  • Stretch marks on abdomen and hips
  • Scars

What types of skin and color can be treated?

All types of skin and color can be treated.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes. The entire treatment is performed in a sterile environment and there are almost no side effects and little trauma to the skin. All tools that contact the treatment area are sterilized. This process stimulates circulation beneath the surface of the skin, leaving the skin rejuvenated. Unlike lasers, there is no generation of heat so the procedure can be administered on all different skin types.

What is Colon-Hydro-Therapy?

Colonic Hydrotherapy is one of the oldest techniques of natural medicine there is, used by the Egyptians as far back as 1500BC. The principle is very simple - that of an internal bath to help cleanse the colon or large intestine of poisons, gas, accumulated faecal matterand mucus deposits. These, if not properly eliminated, can prevent the body absorbing nutrients from new food, and poison it by retaining waste matter which should have been 'flushed' away.

The colon comes at the end of the body's digestive system and is designed to handle both food and other body waste. It is made of smooth muscle which moves the waste through itself during the 24 hours after the time of eating. It is normally inhabited by billions of friendly bacteria which help to detoxif)£_the waste and synthesise the vitamins. However these bacteria cannot perform effectively if the waste load is too high.

Even in a healthy body, the colon may not be entirely cleansed by normal bowel action. Foods such as dairy products, eggs, sugar and flour promote the formation of mucus which can accumulate in the colon and hinder proper elimination.

If waste matter is not moved through the bowel on a regular basis - as happens in cases of poor digestion, yeast overgrowth, spastic colon, IBS, chronic constipation and diarrhoea - then the colon can 'auto-intoxicate'. Literally, poison itself by re-absorbing soluble wastes back into the bloodstream, thereby placing a huge burden on the kidneys, skin and lungs, the body's other cleansing organs. In due course, such a toxic overload will cause secondary problems both in the bowel (diverticulrtis, haemmeroids, prolapse, colitis or even bowel cancer) and elsewhere in the body.

In colonic irrigation warm filtered water (usually just below or above body temperature) is introduced under gentle gravitational pressure to the colon througha small instrument which protrudes no more than an inch and a half into the anus. Justifiable medical fears of tubes perforating the colon if mishandled are thereby eliminated. The water, whose pressure is less than that needed for a barium meal, gradually softens faecal matter and compacted deposits. Massage on acupressure points and meridiens is used during the treatment to stimulate the

colon thereby improving the elimination of waste. The treatment takes approximately 30 minutes and, far from being unpleasant, most people find it relaxing and even enjoyable.

However, colonic hydrotherapy on its own, as any therapist would quickly point out, is not enough. For a start, the water which washes away the waste deposits from the colon, also removes the good gu t floja (Lactoba-cillus acidophilus) which need to be replaced as soon as the.therapy is complete. This can be done either by implant direct into the colon or orally, thereby allowing the flora to work their way through the small intestine on their way to the colon. Secondly, cleansing the colon of waste matter is of little long term use unless dietary and general lifestyle changes are made to prevent it becoming re-toxified. Nutritional assessment and advice are therefore intrinsic parts of colonic therapy.

Nonetheless, the mere cleansing of the colon can have an envigorating effect on the whole system allowing better absorption of nutrients from food. Thiscan be very beneficial for those suffering from allergies or other immune related problems, intestinal Candida or more specific digestive problems.

Colonic irrigation has also been found helpful for stress management and weight loss although the Colonic International Association emphasise that weight loss only occurs as a side effect to a dietary change undertaken in conjunction wi th a course of colonic hydrotherapy. (Toxic build up prevents the body accessing the nutrients in the food, so the patient feels permanently hungry and eats continuously - often the wrong kind of foods which are hard for the colon to eliminate, thus building up further toxic overload. Colonic hydrotherapy combined with a change in diet and dietary habits - for example, chewing food more thoroughly so as to slow down the eating process and make the nutrients more easily available to the body - will often lead to weight loss in the obese.).

How does the Ellipse treatment work?

The visible light from the flashlamp is guided via a glass prism to the hairy area. Hair contain pigment (melanin) that absorbs the light and converts it into heat. This heat is led through the hair into the hair follicle which is then destroyed and rendered unable to produce a new hair.

To ensure optimal light transmission to the hair a thin layer of gel (similar to that used in ultrasound examinations) is applied to the skin. The hand held applicator is then slid over the entire treatment area by moving it exactly one width after each flash of light.

Can all hairs be treated?

As the treatment relies on absorbtion of light in the hair pigment, melanin, the most efficient treatment is seen with dark hair. The lighter the skin the more effective the separation is between hair and skin colour making treatment easier. However, the unique software of the Ellipse System has pre-programmed settings for different hair- and skin colours that adjust the energy output accordingly.

How long does an Ellipse treatment take?

The glass prism of the Ellipse applicator which guides the light to the skin is 1 cm by 5 cm so a large number of hairs are targeted in one flash of light. A facial treatment takes around 20 min. whereas a back or both legs take 60-120 mm.

Unsightly Hair

Now you can make it a thing of the past. Introducing the new Ellipse Flex. The Ellipse Flex uses state of the art Intense Pulsed Light technology to get rid of unwanted hair - quickly safely and virtually without pain. So now is your chance to have smooth silky skin.

A daily program incorporating a combination antioxidant product like skinceuticals serum 15 and a broad spectrum sunscreen like skinceuticals daily sun defense can:

- reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
- improve age spots and hyperpigmentation
- lighten the overall appearance of the skin
- prevent additional environmental damage to the skin

Why Skin Ages

Scientists have now proven that exposure to elements like sun, smoke, and air pollution can cause premature wrinkling, age spots, and other signs of aging. New-research specifically shows that UVA rays, one section of the sun's radiation, are responsible for premature signs of aging in skin.

Here are some important facts you should know about UVA radiation:

UVA rays generate free radicals that break down collagen and cause premature aging.

UVA rays cause DNA mutations that lead to aggressive forms of skin cancer.

UVA rays go to all layers of the skin; UVB rays go no deeper than the outer layers of the skin.

UVA rays penetrate glass, are present year round, and are 1000X more plentiful then UVB rays.

Most sunscreens don’t completely protect you from UVA rays.

BROAD-SPECTRUM SUNSCREENS

The best protection from UVA radiation is to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen that blocks both UVA and UVI rays. All SkinCeuticals sunscreens contain Z-Cote (microfine zinc-oxide) which protects from both UVA and UVB rays.

ANTIOXIDANTS

The body uses antioxidants to protect itself from free radical attack caused by UV exposure. Supplementing the body's natural reservoir of antioxidants with a topical serum such as SkinCeuticals Serum 15 can provide additional protection from premature aging.

What can I do to protect my skin?

Chemical Peels

There are many things we can do to help rejuvenate the skin. For instance using UV radiation block which covers both UV-A and UV-B radiation not only has a preventative role but can also help reverse some of the signs of ageing in the skin. Other rejuvenating products include anti-oxidants that are applied topically to the skin such as Skinceuticals Vitamin C serum. But something which has been around for thirty years is making headlines again and that is the Chemical Peel.

Historically the first chemical peels were discovered by two leading American Dermatologists who were trying to find a suitable treatment for those with a very scaly skin condition called Ictyosis. They found that by using Glycolic acid (an alpha hydroxyacid or AHA) they were able to make the skin smoother, softer and more pliable. Since then this group of agents has been researched and there application extended to include the treatment of sun damaged skin which is lined and hyperpigmented.

Chemical peels are broadly divided into very light peels, light peels, medium peels and deep peels. Very light peels are generally low concentration buffered alpha hydroxyacids or polyhydroxyacids which are used either at home or in beauty salons. Light peels are similar in that they are buffered AHA’s or PHA’s but the concentration is a bit higher. Medium strength peels are either low concentration free acids or buffered acids such as easy TCA ( trichloro acetic acid). The strong peels are strong free acids and generally require some form of sedation or general anaesthetic for use. They also carry with them the longest down time as it takes about 4 weeks for the skin to recover afterwards.

Easy TCA has become an extremely popular choice of chemical peel due to the fact that it is of sufficient strength to get through not just the epidermis of the skin but it also penetrates through to the papillary dermis. The treatment is done without any requirement for sedation. The patient generally feels a slight burning sensation but this is not uncomfortable. Afterwards the skin is slightly red but this tends to settle within a couple of hours. After 3 to 4 days the skin does begin to peel and has the appearance of someone who was peeling from having had sunburn. The peeling continues for about a week. With the application of appropriate moisturizer this allows the individual continue on a normal social life without anyone knowing. The effect afterwards is a skin with fewer lines and with a healthy glow. Collagen in the skin continues to be laid down for up to eight weeks after the treatment and this increases the elasticity and thickness of the skin. At the same time dead cells from the outer stratum corneum are removed which makes the skin look and feel healthier. Generally a course of 4 treatments are done spaced 2 weeks apart and maintenance is usually 6 monthly.

For a brighter more youthful skin easy TCA is a must.
